Trip to Florida

We went to Florida the week before Christmas so Evan could experience Christmas morning/day here at his house. He always enjoys traveling and much like his Mama – loves the airport. On the way down the flight captain even let Evan go into the cockpit, look around, and ask questions. They even let him say something over the intercom.

We all had a great time and Evan was excited to see everyone, play outside, and even sit in a big tractor trailer rig (neighbor’s). I think with all of that – the most exciting part of the trip for Evan was seeing Cora after being away from her for a few days. As soon as he got out of the car Cora’s eyes lit up and she instantly started screaming in joy. This continued for several minutes after we all got inside.

Evan at the Skydeck

While Amy’s dad was here we ventured into the city to eat at Rick Bayless’ restaurant, and then Amy, Evan, and “big Grandad” went up to the Skydeck (in the Willis (ugh) Tower. Evan showed no fear – unlike me who decided that the name change + heights = too much. Evan also enjoyed his rid on the Metra!

Evans’ Family Reunion 2011

Evan had a ball at the family reunion this year. He enjoyed playing with his cousins…especially Hunter. Evan spent a lot of time playing on the swing, in the sandbox, and “helping” his older cousins put up their tents.

New Jersey 2011

img_2161After a long trip in the car with all the kids – we finally arrived in New Jersey tired but excited to see our family. We enjoyed spending time at the beach, with Uncle Mike and his family, Grandma M, Grandpa M, Aunt Jackie and her family, Aunt Kathy, and Uncle Jon and Aunt Rene.

Evan absolutely loved the ocean and went there with Amy and his cousins several days. (One day was enough for me) He really loved playing in the water, “surfing”, and digging holes in the sand. Needless to say, he is excited to go back next summer! Check out the photos from our trip to NJ.

Visit to Penn State

We met Evan, my grandparents, and my mom at Penn State on our way east. Everyone enjoyed ice cream at the Creamery, staying at the Nittany Lion Inn and seeing all the typical Penn State places – Nittany Lion Shrine, Joe Paterno statue, and good ol’ McLanahans.

Summer 2011 at Kill Buck

image-45Evan flew to New York with Grandma Z to spend a little over a week golfing and eating at Elkdale, meeting new friends, meeting Aunt Terry, playing with Gaga and Papa, and having a great time “in the forest” aka Grandma’s house. He also enjoyed building a bird house, seeing some Alpacas, and even drinking some of Grandma Z’s perfume. A big thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Z for having Evan stay with them. Helping Out

Hanging with the small kids

Ever since the kids have started sitting at the table to eat their Cheerios – Evan has been enjoying helping out (giving them Cheerios, and more Cheerios) and making them laugh. The twins love their big brother and Evan loves them as well. He loves being near them, hugging them, and kissing them. A big thanks to Evan when he reads this for being such a good helper and big brother!

Christmas – A Month Later

It has been a while since our last update….lots going on. So just a few notes. We spent Christmas in Florida with Jen’s parents and grandparents. I was pretty frustrated because I was in Florida and the temperature was only in the 50s, but it was nice to see family and I know that Gaga and Papa were very excited to see all the kids.

Evan had fun, constantly opening presents. Will enjoyed eating all the tissue paper he could get his hands on. Cora was excited just to play and scream (thankfully this screaming habit has passed). Jen was busy becoming an expert with the Fushigi ball. I got to take a few walks and even saw an armadillo.

The sun was shining bright some of the time and we went out to an awesome park nearby. Evan had so much fun on the seesaw and the giant sandbox – what could be better?

Of course there were a lot of golf cart rides as well with Papa. Thank you to Vickey and Phil for everything.

Cousin Hunter Visits

Cousin Hunter, Aunt Julie, and Uncle Dan recently came to visit the twins to meet them for the first time and Evan and Hunter had a great time playing together. They loved playing in the backyard and just running around together in general. We hope Hunter comes back soon for another visit soon!

Fun at the zoo

On Sunday Evan, Jen and I went to the Brookfield Zoo with Krista. It was a beautiful day out and we were able to get away and Vickey and Teagen stayed home with the babies for the morning. Evan loves the zoo and loves the animals, so it was a fun time for him and us to be able to spend some quality time with him. Krista was nice enough to meet us there and we had a nice time catching up with her too. Evan loved the bears and giraffes. He also spent some time with the goats, brushing their fur. He had a blast on the carousel before we left – he road on the anteater :) .
